SILK
DREAMS
is a harem tale set in ancient Constantinople.
To research the story, I not only hit the library to learn more
about harems and the Byzantine Empire, I also took belly-dancing
classes with one of my sisters.
Why should my heroine have all the
fun? Read

The idea for
ERINSONG
came when my husband and I were visiting Ireland. I knew I wanted to
write about an Irish heroine who mastered the art of illuminating
manuscripts. When I learned that Dublin started as a Viking
over-winter settlement, I knew I'd found my hero.

Life . . .
MAIDENSONG
was written while I was living in downtown Seattle, with a view of
Puget Sound, America's fjord. After immersing myself in Nordic
legends, Rika, the heroine in
MAIDENSONG sprang into my mind
fully formed. I could hear her low melodious voice telling the
stories of gods and heroes in a smoky longhouse. Who says it's bad
to hear voices?

DISTRACTING THE
DUCHESS
was originally titled LOOKING FOR
MR. BEDDINGTON. The idea for the statuette in the story sprang
from a little horse statue one of my daughters sculpted. It's a
little lumpy and missing one ear, but it still lives on my fireplace
mantle.

Hearing Voices. . .
A
new story starts with new characters. I wanted to write a pirate story, but my editor didn't
want a novel set it in the Caribbean. I agreed to think of something
unique.
So, why would a pirate not be found
in the Caribbean? Maybe he was weary of being a sea wolf. Perhaps
he'd once been the son of a gentleman. Maybe he longed for home . .
. a prodigal pirate!

New Works in Progress
VEXING THE VISCOUNT, coming Spring 2009! The heroine in VTV
is one of the pirate's orphaned nieces in PLEASURING THE PIRATE. I
had great fun imagining the intrepid Daisy Drake all grown up and
off on her own adventure.
Hush . . . The idea for
Hush, my first romantic suspense came to me when I was stuck in
traffic. I happened to catch a glimpse of the driver ahead of me in
his side mirror. He was talking a blue streak on his cell phone and
I asked the quintessential writer's question. What if . . . ?
I wanted to try my hand at a
paranormal, but vampires have never been my personal cup of tea. I
started imagining a new race, older than humans, but not necessarily
wiser. The result is the Firstborn, incredibly long-lived beings,
able to communicate telepathically and bend time to their uses. My
light and dark elves were born. Check out
